Practical Driving Test bookings need to be scheduled with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. We strongly recommend you follow your instructor’s advice as to when you are ready to sit your test.
Queensland Transport does not provide a vehicle for you to sit your practical driving test in, so you will need to make your own arrangements for a vehicle. You can either ask a friend or family member who would be happy to loan you their car for the test, or you can book in with a driving school. If you are wanting to book with a driving school, do not leave this to the last minute as driving instructors cars are often booked up weeks in advance. At Metro Driving School we have a specific Test Day Package available for purchase. For more information on this, you can visit ‘Our Prices’ or give our office a call.
Remember, if you need to cancel or reschedule your driving test for any reason, you must give Queensland Transport at least four full working days notice, or you will forfeit the booking fee paid at the time of booking.
On the Test Day
On the day of your test, your driving instructor will pick you up from your designated pick up location one hour prior to your test. From there, you will drive to the testing centre. During this hour, your instructor will revise you on all the driving tasks that will be required of you during your practical driving test.
Your driving instructor will ensure that all paperwork is properly completed prior to the commencement of your practical driving test. The test will be conducted by a Queensland Transport Driving Examiner and usually will take between thirty and sixty minutes.
